Symptoms:
PHCO_35520:
JAGag05164) While adding a user through SAM,
directories in /etc/skel are
not copied.
JAGaf92083) SAM needs to support the new
RoHS PCI mux card.
JAGag23921) The response time of SAM's Disk
Devices sub-area under Disks and
File Systems is too long.

incorrectly.
JAGag28304) SAM is unable to parse the automounter
files properly.
PHCO_34207:
JAGaf80147) When the /etc/nsswitch.conf file was modified
to create the "passwd: compat" option from SAM
-> Networking and Communications -> Name
Service Switch sub area, all the local users
were locked out from logging in.
JAGaf80148) If the nodename and hostname are different, SAM
cannot access the Networking and Communications
-> Hosts -> Local Hosts File functional area and
fails to update the /etc/hosts file.
JAGaf89648) SAM needs to support EVA GL active/active arrays
that identify themselves as HSV101 or HSV111.
JAGaf90614) SAM does not warn users about temporary
passwords in trusted system.
PHCO_32397:
JAGaf44075) SAM does not support HP StorageWorks MSA1000
storage device.
JAGae58009) On entering the SAM -> Disks and File Systems
subarea each time, SAM creates a temporary
device file transformer_dev in the /var/sam
directory when the HP-UX system is attached to
the transformer device.
JAGaf43299) SAM fails to build the kernel when applying a
template and displays the following error
message:
===============================================
The kmadmin command has failed to unload driver
module krm. The stderr output from the command
is shown below: kmadmin: krm: Invalid argument
===============================================
The scenario is as follows:
After copying /stand/vmunix from one system to
/tmp on the other system, and on entering the
SAM -> Kernel Configuration -> Configurable
Parameters subarea, specify /tmp/vmunix and go
to Actions -> Templates -> Apply Template
Values, check both Driver and Subsystem Values
and Configurable Parameter Values, and go to
Actions -> Process New Kernel.
JAGaf46301) SAM man pages are not clear about the
restricted SAM user's user and group
privileges.
JAGaf55409) On entering the SAM -> Disks and File Systems
-> Disk Devices subarea, SAM does not correctly
detect multiple paths for XP12000 LUNs.
JAGaf56757) On entering the SAM -> Disks and File Systems
-> Disk Devices subarea, SAM does not correctly
detect multiple paths for EVA XL arrays.
JAGaf62293) On a trusted system, SAM dumps core in the
SAM -> Auditing and Security -> Audited
Events screen.
JAGaf65943) On entering the SAM -> Networking and
Communications -> Name Service Switch subarea,
and while modifying the name service switch
settings for any service in the Configure Name
Service Switch screen, SAM does not display
the current settings of that service properly.
JAGaf74405) On entering the SAM -> Printers and Plotters
subarea, SAM displays the following error
message and the printers are not listed in
SAM:
===========================================
An unexpected error has occurred retrieving
information about printers ...
===========================================
JAGaf75337) The HP LTO448 tape drive reports itself to the
HP-UX operating system as "HP Ultrium 2-SCSI"
in response to the SCSI inquiry. SAM then
incorrectly reports the drive as "HP Ultrium
460 External Drive".
JAGaf75354) In the ObAM description file
/usr/sam/lib/C/ts.ui, there is a nested
comment, which may result in a abnormal
termination of the trusted system subarea.
PHCO_31314:
JAGaf49179) SAM displays the following message while
retrieving the disk list:
----------------------------------------------
The Logical Volume Manager shows this device
file, /dev/dsk/Disk_0, with hardware path, , as
belonging to Volume Group, rootdg. SAM has
determined that this hardware path is not
currently active because either the device is
disconnected, or this is not the primary path
to a multiple path physical volume. This
results in incorrect disk utilization
information in the Disk Devices and Volume
Group lists.
----------------------------------------------
The message is displayed in the following
scenario:
On a system that uses VxVM, enter "SAM -> Disks
and File Systems -> Disk Devices" subarea. VxVM
volumes are created with attached disk devices.
The VxVM disks are initialized using enclosure-
based names.
JAGae98694) When a new volume group is created through SAM,
the following error message is displayed:
===========================================
vgcreate: Minor number of
/dev/vg_informix/group is not unique.
/dev/vg_pm/group has the same minor number.
===========================================
This is caused by SAM assuming that minor
numbers allocated to inactive volume groups are
available.
JAGaf10354) When SAM is used to convert a system into
trusted mode with the super user "root" having a
non-standard primary group, the files and
directories under the trusted database "/tcb/"
are created with an inappropriate group.
JAGaf25212) When a default route is added or modified from
the Route functional area of SAM, the original
configuration in the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf
file may be lost.
JAGaf35416) "Run SAM on Remote Systems" subarea may result
in files and directories getting created on
the remote system with an inappropriate group.
JAGaf42618) The online help of SAM displays incorrect
information about trusted system password
lifetime parameter.
JAGaf47496) At the time of installing a SAM patch,
any process whose name contains the
string "samd" also gets killed along
with "/usr/sam/lbin/samd"
JAGaf52760) When trying to extend a volume group with
adding a disk, SAM(1m) fails with the following
error message while vgextend(1m) from the
command-line succeeds:
================================================
Volume group <vgname> is currently configured
to contain a maximum of <maxsize> megabytes of
space. The current size of this volume group
<cursize>, plus the additional space <new_size>
exceeds the maximum limit. The volume group
cannot be extended if the size of disk(s)
exceeds the size of volume group.
===============================================
JAGaf55711) SAM fails to modify a deactivated user when
password options are changed for that user in
shadow mode system.
JAGaf55984) SAM needs to be enhanced to support
configuration of driver parameters and IP
parameters for 10GBASE-SR cards.
PHCO_31312:
JAGae84402) Enhance SAM to support password aging and
account lifetime features in SAM -> Account
for Users and Groups -> Users subarea when the
system is in shadow mode.
JAGaf32077) Enhance SAM online help to document password
aging and account lifetime features in SAM ->
Account for Users and Groups -> Users subarea
when the system is in shadow mode.
PHCO_30598:
JAGaf32099) For an EVA disk array, SAM->Disks and
FileSystems->Disk Devices functional area
displays the alternate path to a disk as a
separate LUN if the device identifier bytes
do not match.
PHCO_29327:
JAGad98578) SAM displays junk values against the "Configure
Aliases..." button in the "Modify Host in File"
screen. Also, SAM displays an empty "Configure
Aliases" screen on choosing the "Configure
Aliases" button in the following scenario:
Enter "SAM -> Networking and Communications
-> Hosts -> Local Hosts" subarea, select an
entry and choose the "Modify" menu item from

the confirmation message. In the "Create a New
Kernel" window, select the "Create a New
Kernel Now" option and click the OK button on
"Reboot the System" window.
JAGae26852) When an interface is configured with an IPv4/
IPv6 address that is already assigned to any
other interface, SAM correctly displays an
error message but writes duplicate IPv4/IPv6
addresses into the files
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf or
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf-ipv6 and erroneous
changes are made to the file /etc/hosts
in the following scenario:
Enter "SAM -> Networking and
Communications -> Network Interface Cards"
subarea, and choose the "Modify" menu item from
the "Actions" menu.
JAGae44626) SAM does not allow management of local users
and local groups on an NIS+ enabled system
when the NIS+ master server is not reachable.
JAGae48820) SAM fails to display the following error
message while configuring the "Advanced
Options" for a gelan card:
-----------------------------------------------

Groups -> NIS+ Users" subarea, SAM stops
processing user entries once it encounters an
invalid entry in the NIS or NIS+ password
table.
JAGae52920) While setting up DNS and referring to the DNS
settings in /etc/named.boot, SAM displays the
following bus error message:
----------------------------------------------
UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C
/usr/sam/lbin/samx -C -n -p
4733 -s primary_DNS_server
/usr/sam/lib//dns.ui exited with a
non-zero exit status.
sh: 5175 Bus error(coredump)
----------------------------------------------
The bus error message appears in the following
scenario:
Enter "SAM -> Networking and
Communications -> DNS (BIND) -> DNS Local Name
Server" subarea, entries from /etc/named.boot
are displayed in the "DNS Local Name Server"
screen. Choose the second or third entry and
select the "Modify" menu item from the
"Actions" menu.
JAGae54576) SAM adds a NIS+ user successfully to the
password table but fails to update the
credentials in the following scenario:
Enter "SAM -> Accounts for Users and Groups
-> NIS+ Users" subarea. Choose the "Add" menu
item from the "Actions" menu and set the
"Create User Credentials" as ON in the "Add
User" dialog window. This scenario occurs if
the credentials already exist for another user
with same UID in the parent domain.
JAGae54919) SAM does not load ASCII template files or blank
template files properly and the following
error message is displayed:
---------------------------------------------
A SAM internal error has occurred.
The error handler has gotten the error code 0
of type

SAM exits with the following error message:
----------------------------------------------
UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C
/usr/sam/lbin/samx -c -n -p
4560 -s bootp_sa_dhcp_groups
/usr/sam/lib//boot.us exited with a non-
zero exit status.
sh: 4643 memory fault(coredump)
----------------------------------------------
When SAM is used to manage DHCP pools, one can
specify IP addresses or ranges of IP addresses
to exclude from the pool. The error message is
displayed if the exclusion list is more than
4096 bytes.
JAGae80232) Under certain conditions, restricted SAM may
not operate properly.
JAGae83077) SAM does not recognize the virtual array
business copy (BC) LUNs and are displayed as
"Unused" disks on entering "SAM -> Disk and
Filesystems-> Disk Devices" subarea. It has
to mark the business copy LUN so that it is
not considered for configuration.
JAGae83345) On entering "SAM -> Disks and Filesystems ->
Disk Devices" subarea and on selecting a
virtual array, SAM displays the following
invalid menu items under "Disk Array

JAGae84199) A non-existent hardware path entry is displayed
on a system configured with a VA74XX family disk
array on entering the "SAM -> Peripheral
Devices -> Cards" subarea.
JAGae85656) When /usr/sam/lbin/ioparser.sh is used to list
all interface cards on the system, the
Intelligent Platform Management Interface
(IPMI) controller device is also listed. This
is incorrect as the IPMI Controller device is
not technically a card.
JAGae86120) When the FC60 LUNs report the world wide
identifier of NAA16 disks, SAM does not display
the number of paths and LUNs correctly in the
"SAM -> Disks and File Systems -> Disk Devices"

(hardware path)"
----------------------------------------------
However, the slot power is left ON and the new
dissimilar card comes up as CLAIMED and is
displayed in the "Cards" subarea.
JAGae93146) SAM and doorbells behave differently in the
situation when online replacement of a card
with a dissimilar card fails in the following
scenario:
Enter "SAM -> Peripheral Devices -> Cards"
subarea, select a card and choose the "Replace"
menu item from the "Actions" menu. When an
action is performed to replace a card with a
dissimilar card, the replace action fails and
SAM leaves the affected slot powered ON. If the
same operation is performed using doorbells,
the slot will be in powered OFF state.
JAGae93152) On a system that supports shared slots, the
slot power ON operation may fail due to bus
frequency or bus mode mismatch. SAM does
not indicate this to the user in the following
error message:
-------------------------------------------
OLRAD Error: General Error
-------------------------------------------
The scenario is as follows:
Enter "SAM -> Peripheral Devices -> Cards"
subarea, select a card whose slot is powered
OFF and try to bring it online by choosing the
"Bring Online" menu item in the "Actions" menu.
JAGae98452) When the FC60 LUNs report the world wide
identifier of NAA16 disks, SAM does not display
the number of paths and LUNs correctly in the
"SAM -> Disks and File Systems -> Disk Devices"
subarea.
JAGaf06223) On entering "SAM -> Networking and
Communications -> Hosts -> Local Hosts File"
subarea, SAM exits with the following error
message:
-------------------------------------------
UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C
/usr/sam/lbin/samx -C -n -p 17908 -s
hosts_init_file /usr/sam/lib//hosts.ui exited
with a non-zero exit status.
sh:18025 Bus error(coredump).
-------------------------------------------
JAGaf07880) SAM allows the GID of the special system group
"nogroup" to be modified in the following
scenario :
Enter "SAM -> Accounts For Users and groups
-> Groups" subarea and select the group
"nogroup". Choose the "Modify" menu item from
the "Actions" menu and change the value in the
field "Group Id".

multiple hardware paths to the same LUN. This
can cause alternate paths to these disks to
be marked as "Unused", allowing for data
corruption.
JAGad40249) When a system contains a large number of

This results in corruption of the NIS+ table
by omitting a trailing '.' on an entry in
the table.
JAGad41162) When multiple administrators concurrently
perform user creation or modification using
SAM, SAM may create users with the same UID
without displaying a warning message.
JAGad38331) When a SAM-configured PCI FDDI network card
is physically replaced with a new PCI FDDI
(or any other network card which is using the
same I/O slot) and deleted with SAM, the
replacement card erroneously assumes the MAC
address of the old NIC. This may result in
a non-functional network.
JAGad48165) The following processors are not recognized
in the SAM System Properties area:

JAGad36145) The online addition and replacement dialog
box that says:
-------------------------------
The slot is powered down, Click "OK" when
the card is replaced and the slot will be
powered up.
-------------------------------
is confusing and leads to operator errors.
JAGad35304) The sequence of events required to replace a
suspended I/O card is confusing.
JAGad32172) Both physical and virtual ports show up in
the Cards screen, but only physical ports
are reported as being 'affected' by an
OLAR operation in the Critical Resource
Analysis screen or "Bring Card On-Line
confirmation" screen. This could cause
user confusion.
JAGad50027) When a user that is not root and does not
have Restricted SAM privileges tries to
enter SAM, a confusing message is presented:
-----------------------------------
The file "/var/sam/lock/lock_0" could not
be opened (errno = 13, "Permission denied").
This file must be opened so this SAM session
can be locked. Otherwise, other SAM sessions
won't be able to detect that this SAM session
is running on the system.

JAGad28114) Both the PCI Standard Hotplug Controller
(SHPC) spec and the Infiniband spec are
proposing the use of a Blinking amber LED
to locate a PCI slot for a hotplug operation.
SAM currently turns on a solid amber LED for
this purpose, which is an error indicator
in the new standard.
JAGad34991) SAM has obsoleted a number of files between
10.20 and 11.11. After an update from an
older release to 11.11, some of the obsolete
files are left on the file system.
Defect Description:
PHCO_35520:
JAGag05164) SAM fails to copy any directories in
/etc/skel because the program it uses
can only copy files.
Resolution: SAM code is modified to copy both
files and directories from /etc/skel.
JAGaf92083) SAM needs to support the new
PCI mux card which uses pci_mux1 driver.
Resolution: Now, SAM supports the new mux card
using the driver pci_mux1.
JAGag23921) The response time of SAM's Disk
Devices sub-area under Disks and File
Systems is too long when connected to a
large Disk array configured with multiple
paths.
Resolution: The response time of SAM's Disk Devices
sub area is improved by approximately
40 percent using a better algorithm
to detect multiple paths.
JAGaf93277) Network services in SAM shows ftp
disabled if ftp is enabled when
ftp-data port is not specified in
the /etc/services file.
Resolution: SAM code is modified to handle this
scenario (ftp-data port is disabled)
to describe the status.
JAGag05301) When a default route(gateway) entry
has double quotes, SAM adds a new entry
instead of modifying the existing one.
Resolution: SAM code is modified to update the
existing entry instead of adding a new
entry.
JAGag19227) SAM configures read-mostly file systems
incorrectly. When there is an entry in
both read-write list and read-only list
of export file systems, SAM removes
the entry from read-only list.
Resolution: SAM code is modified to keep the existing
entries in both the lists.
JAGag28304) SAM is unable to parse the automounter
files properly when a single line of
information is typed in two lines with "\"
followed by whitespace at the end of
first line.
Resolution: SAM code is modified to handle the scenario
if whitespace characters are present between
"\" and new line character.
PHCO_34207:
JAGaf80147) SAM added the password_compat: syntax to the
tail of the /etc/nsswitch.conf file, which is
incomplete. The syntax is a NIS+ syntax and the
syntax should be as specified in the
nsswitch.conf(4).
Resolution: SAM code has been modified to update the
correct NIS+ syntax in the /etc/nsswitch.conf
file.
JAGaf80148) SAM fails to update the /etc/hosts file if the
nodename and hostname is different because SAM
does not support nodename that is more than
nine characters.
Resolution: SAM code has been modified such that the
/etc/hosts file is modified by SAM even if the
nodename and hostname are different.
JAGaf89648) SAM needs to support EVA GL active/active arrays
that identify themselves as HSV101 or HSV111.
Resolution: Now, SAM supports the EVA GL active/active
arrays that identify themselves as HSV101 or
HSV111.
JAGaf90614) SAM does not warn users about temporary
passwords in trusted system due to insufficient
SAM documentation and warnings.
Resolution: SAM code has been modified to display warning
messages to users about temporary passwords.
SAM online help system has also been updated.
PHCO_32397:
JAGaf44075) SAM has no support for MSA1000 disk array and
consequently the disk array LUNs with
multipaths are incorrectly displayed.
Resolution: SAM is modified to support MSA1000
JAGae58009) On a HP-UX 11i v1 superdome system with EMC
8530 disk array attached, and HP StorageWorks
DS2300 (A6490AZ) installed, a temporary device
file transformer_dev is not removed by SAM in
the /var/sam directory.
Resolution: SAM cleans up the temporary device files
on exiting the SAM -> Disks and File Systems
subarea when the HP-UX system is attached to
the transformer device.
JAGaf43299) SAM tries to unload the kernel modules without
properly checking for their current module
status.
Resolution: SAM has been changed to unload the kernel
module, only if it is loaded.
JAGaf46301) On invoking the "sam -f user_name" command,
where the user "user_name" belongs to a
secondary group that has restricted SAM
privileges, the following error message is
displayed:
===============================================
Could not read the contents of the control file
"/etc/sam/custom/<username>.cf".
===============================================
Resolution: SAM man pages have been modified to correctly
advise how to grant restricted SAM privileges.
JAGaf55409) The Disk Devices screen of SAM incorrectly
collapses LUNs of XP12000 array.
Resolution: SAM has been changed to correctly detect
all paths for XP12000 LUNs.
JAGaf56757) The Disk Devices screen of SAM incorrectly
collapses LUNs of EVA XL arrays like EVA 4000/
6000.
Resolution: SAM has been changed to correctly detect
all paths for EVA XL arrays.
JAGaf62293) On a trusted system, SAM dumps core in the
SAM -> Auditing and Security -> Audited
Events screen. Change the open event to
"Audit for Success Only" and change all other
event types to "Audit Neither Success nor
Failure". Go to the "List" menu item change to
"Audited System Calls change execv and execve
to "Audit Both Success and Failure". Go to the
"List" menu item and change to "Audited
Events". The following error message is
displayed:
==============================================
UNEXPECTED EXIT: process LANG=C LC_ALL=C
/usr/sam/lbin/samx -C -p 9538 -s ts_events
/usr/sam/lib//ts.ui exited with a non-zero exit
status.
sh: 9643 Bus error(coredump)
===============================================
Resolution: On a trusted system, SAM works properly in the
SAM -> Auditing and Security -> Audited Events
screen.
JAGaf65943) In the Name Service Switch subarea, on
selecting a service and entering the "Configure
Name Service Switch..." screen, the search order
selections displayed do not reflect the current
settings stored for that service in the
/etc/nsswitch.conf file.
Resolution: SAM has been modified to display the search
order selections properly in the "Configure
Name Service Switch..." screen for any service.
JAGaf74405) SAM displays an error message in the Printers
and Plotters subarea and does not display
printers if a printer is disabled with a -r
option.
Resolution: SAM displays all the printers even if a printer
is disabled with a -r option.
JAGaf75337) SAM incorrectly reports the LTO 448 tape drive
because the description string that SAM
displays for LTO 448 tape drive is not unique.
Resolution: SAM displays the LTO 448 tape drive correctly.
JAGaf75354) In the ObAM description file
/usr/sam/lib/C/ts.ui, there is a nested
comment, which may result in an abnormal
termination of the trusted system subarea.
Resolution: The nested comment has been fixed in the
ObAM description file /usr/sam/lib/C/ts.ui.
PHCO_31314:
JAGaf49179) Since the VxVM disks are initialized with
enclosure-based names, they are of the format
Disk_0 instead of cxtxdx. SAM tries to
validate a device file with the name Disk_0
and is not able to trace the device file.
Resolution: The enclosure-based names are mapped to a
device file name before running the check
for validating a device file. Now, the Disk
Devices subarea displays the correct message
with VxVM enclosure-based names.
JAGae98694) SAM uses a script to get volume group
information on the system. There is a problem
in the way the script collects volume group
information.
Resolution: The script now uses the correct commands to
get volume group information.
JAGaf10354) SAM does not check the primary group of
superuser "root" during initialization and as a
result, files and directories get created with
the effective non-standard group when
converting a system to trusted mode.
Resolution: SAM has been modified to provide an option to
the user, before the functional area launcher
is displayed, to either change the group to
"sys" which is the standard primary group for
root or proceed with the current non-standard
group for root.
JAGaf25212) When a default route is added or modified using
SAM, the route details are added in the
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf file to save the
configuration across reboot. The entries in the
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf file are wrongly
updated by SAM if the newly added entry has the
GATEWAY value, which is same as that of the
existing entries in
the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf file.
Resolution: Now, the original configuration in the
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf file is not lost when
a default route is added or modified from the
Route functional area of SAM.
JAGaf35416) SAM internally creates the user sam_exec on
the remote system for launching SAM. The user
"sam_exec" is created with the group "other". On
the remote system, SAM is launched by user
sam_exec and as a result files and directories
get created with the group "other".
Resolution: SAM has been modified to create the user
sam_exec on the remote system with the group
"sys".
JAGaf42618) It has been incorrectly documented in the SAM
online help that the password life time must
be greater than the password expiration time.
Resolution: The online help of password lifetime parameter
has been updated that password life time must
be greater than or equal to the password
expiration time.
JAGaf47496) One of the SD control scripts in SAM
calls /usr/sam/bin/samreg. This
command would go through the list of
current running processes using ps(1)
and kill any process whose names
contains "samd".
Resolution: The /usr/sam/bin/samreg has been modified
to kill only the "/usr/sam/lbin/samd"
process at the time of installation of the SAM
patch. However, after the SAM patch is removed,
all processes whose names contain character
sequence "samd" would be removed.
JAGaf52760) This happens if a volume group was created
from the command-line and extended from within
SAM. This happens because the command options
used to create a volume group from the
command-line are different from those SAM uses.
SAM emits error when it checks to ensure max
size is not exceeded.
Resolution: SAM now fixes this by eliminating the need to
check the maximum size of the volume group
being extended.
JAGaf55711) On modifying a deactivated user's password
options in shadow mode, SAM displays the
following error message:
===============================================
"Failed to modify user "<USER>". An invalid
command syntax was used to invoke the command
"/usr/sam/lbin/usermod.sam"
===============================================
Resolution: Now, SAM modifies deactivated user's password
options successfully in shadow mode system.
JAGaf55984) SAM needs to be enhanced to support
configuration of driver parameters and IP
parameters for 10GBASE-SR Cards.
Resolution: Now, SAM support configuration of driver
parameters and IP parameters for 10GBASE-SR
cards.
PHCO_31312:
JAGae84402) On entering SAM-> Accounts for Users and Groups
-> Users subarea, SAM does not detect the
existence of the file /etc/shadow. It is not
able to utilize the password aging and account
lifetime information present in /etc/shadow
to display and manage the password aging
parameters of a user.
Resolution: SAM has been enhanced to support and manage
password aging and account lifetime features
present in the file, /etc/shadow. The user
templates feature in SAM-> Accounts for Users
and Groups-> Users subarea has not been
enhanced to support password aging and account
lifetime features in shadow mode.
JAGaf32077) SAM online help has to be updated to document
password aging and account lifetime features
in SAM -> Account for Users and Groups -> Users
subarea when the system is in shadow mode.
Resolution: SAM online help has been updated to document
about password aging and account lifetime
features in SAM -> Account for Users and
Groups -> Users subarea when the system is in
shadow mode.
PHCO_30598:
JAGaf32099) For an EVA disk array, SAM->Disks and
FileSystems->Disk Devices functional area
displays the alternate path to a disk as a
separate LUN if the device identifier bytes
returned by ioscan(1M) do not match.
Resolution: For an EVA disk array, the alternate paths
to a disk are correctly recognised even if the
device identifier bytes do not match.
PHCO_29327:
JAGad98578) SAM is not updating the value for number of
configured aliases correctly. As a result,
a junk value is displayed. Since the value
for the number of configured aliases is not
correct, SAM fails to display the configured
aliases.
Resolution: SAM correctly updates the value for number of
configured aliases.
JAGae16057) While adding or removing a Dynamic Loadable
Kernel Module (DLKM) to/from the kernel, the
user can specify whether the DLKM can be added
to the file /etc/loadmods as well. For the SNA
modules, the user does not specify that DLKM
must be added to the file /etc/loadmods but
SAM adds the DLKM to the file /etc/loadmods
before regenerating the kernel.
Resolution: SAM has been modified to have the DLKMs added
to or removed from the /etc/loadmods only if it
is specified by the user in SAM's Kernel
Configuration area. If the specification is not
provided while adding a DLKM, then the update
of /etc/loadmods is bypassed.
JAGae26852) SAM does not check for a duplicate IPv4/IPv6
address before configuring the IP address. As
a result, incorrect updates are made to the
files /etc/hosts and /etc/rc.config.d/netconf
or /etc/rc.config.d/netconf-ipv6.
Resolution: SAM now checks for a duplicate IPv4/IPv6
address before configuring the IP address. SAM
updates the files /etc/hosts,
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf or
/etc/rc.config.d/netconf-ipv6 only if the
validation for duplicate IP address is
successful.
JAGae44626) On an NIS+ enabled system, SAM tries to access
the NIS+ tables for carrying out NIS+ related
initialization on entering any of the subareas
under "Accounts for Users and Groups"
functional area. When the NIS+ master server is
not reachable, the initialization process
results in errors as the NIS+ tables cannot be
accessed.
Resolution: On entering any of the subareas under "Accounts
for Users and Groups" functional area of SAM
(Local Users/Local Groups/NIS+ Users/NIS+ groups)
on an NIS+ enabled system, if the NIS+ master
server is not reachable, the following message
is displayed:
----------------------------------------------
This system is defined to be an NIS+ client
("NISPLUS_CLIENT=1" was found in
/etc/rc.config.d/namesvrs), but the NIS+ master
server is not reachable.
Should SAM continue treating this system as if
it were NOT an NIS+ client?
[ Yes ] [No]
----------------------------------------------
To proceed with administering the local users/
groups as in a BASIC system (Non NIS+), click
Yes. To go back to the "Accounts for Users and
Groups" screen, click No.
JAGae48820) SAM checks autonegotiation and MTU values. In
case of mismatch, SAM displays the error
message. As SAM is storing incorrect values
for the card type (gelan) and autonegotiation,
SAM does not display the error message.
Resolution: SAM has been modified to store the correct card
type and autonegotiation value for gelan cards.
JAGae52086) SAM stops processing NIS/NIS+ entries once it
encounters an invalid entry.
Resolution: SAM code has been modified to skip the invalid
entry and continue processing the rest of the
password table/map.
JAGae52920) SAM fails with bus error when modifying
DNS settings.
Resolution: SAM code has been modified to set up DNS
properly.
JAGae54576) While adding a new NIS+ user, SAM adds the NIS+
user successfully to the password table, but
fails to update the credentials. This scenario
occurs if the credentials already exist for
another user with same UID in the parent domain.
SAM should first check if the credential exist
in the current domain for the UID before
modifying the password table.
Resolution: SAM checks if the credential exist in the
current domain for the UID before modifying the
password table. If the credentials already exist
for the specified UID, SAM will display a
message asking the system administrator to
enter another id or uncheck the "Create User
Credentials" table.
JAGae54919) In the SAM Kernel Configuration subarea,
provide a valid template file, choose "Apply
Template" and select the "Refresh" menu item
from the "Options" menu. SAM displays an error
message and the SAM GUI displays zeroes for
current and pending values of all kernel
parameters.
Resolution: SAM code has been modified to load the template
file correctly after selecting a valid template
file in the Kernel Configuration area. Now, the
"Refresh" menu item under the "Options" menu
works correctly as expected.
SAM retrieves default (not current) values and
assigns the default values to the kernel
parameters that are not specified in the
applied template. SAM may fail to generate
a new kernel if the applied template is for
all dynamic kernel parameters.
JAGae56856) When the logical volume is defined from the
same user interface from where the volume group
is being created ("Create New Volume
Group" window followed by the "Define New
Logical Volumes" window), the "Approx. Free
Mbytes" field displays a value more than the
actual space available on the selected disks.
Resolution: When an attempt is made to create logical
volume on the volume group that is yet to be
created, a note will be displayed in the
"Define New Logical Volumes" window that one
or more logical volumes' creation may fail if
all the space displayed in the "Approx. Free
Mbytes" field is utilized.
This note will be displayed from the following
entry points to the "Create New Logical
Volumes" screen -
1. Disk and File Systems -> Disk Devices ->
Actions -> Configure -> Using the Logical
Volume Manager -> A New Volume Group ->
Define New Logical Volumes
2. Disk and File Systems -> Disk Devices ->
Actions -> Configure -> Using the Logical
Volume Manager -> An existing Volume Group
-> Define New Logical Volumes
3. Disk and File Systems -> Volume Groups ->
Actions-> Create. Enter a new volume group
and select Define New Logical Volumes.
JAGae60721) SAM calls the driver init script even
when the driver parameters are not modified.
Resolution: Now, SAM calls the driver init script only when
the driver parameters are modified.
JAGae61148) The online help and manpage (samlog_view.1) for
samlog viewer displays the year of date in
2-digit format and must be modified to display
valid 2-digit and 4-digit formats.
Resolution: The samlog viewer manpage (samlog_view.1) and
online help has been modified to display the
correct date format.
JAGae61160) samlog_viewer(1M) is not Y2K compliant. When
samlog_viewer(1M) is invoked with year greater
than 2037, SAM considers the year as 1970.
Resolution: SAM code has been modified to support both
2-digit and 4-digit year formats. For 2-digit
year input, the valid range is 70-99 (1900+)
and 00-37 (2000+), and for the 4-digit year
input, the valid range is defined as 1970-2037.
JAGae61583) SAM online help displays wrong description of
values (minimum, maximum and default). The
values in SAM online help, and
/usr/conf/master.d/core-hpux file mismatch.
Resolution: SAM online help has been modified with correct
minimum, maximum and default values of
"maxdsiz" and "maxdsiz_64".
JAGae67830) A temporary log file with name '0' (zero)
is created in the root directory while
upgrading from HP-UX 11.00 release to
HP-UX 11.11 release.
Resolution: The post install script has been modified so
that a temporary log file with name '0' (zero)
is no longer created in the root directory.
JAGae70332) The ifconfig(1M) command is called even if none
of the IP parameters are modified.
Resolution: SAM has been modified to execute the
ifconfig(1M) command only when the IP
parameters are modified.
JAGae72428) VLAN cannot be viewed or created via SAM
because insufficient memory is allocated.
Resolution: SAM has been modified to allocate sufficient
memory to hold the interface name.
JAGae74095) While analyzing critical resources for a card
replacement, SAM creates the list of affected
resources. While creating the list of affected
file systems, SAM obtains the list of all
file systems on the system by merging the
information obtained from bdf(1M), entries
in /etc/fstab and entries in /etc/mnttab.
When a file system is removed internally by
SAM, the entry from /etc/mnttab is removed by
umount(1M)(internally called by SAM) and the
entry from the /etc/fstab is removed by SAM as
part of the file system removal procedure.
However, when an explicit umount(1M) is
executed on the file system in question from
the command line, only the /etc/mnttab entry
is removed whereas the /etc/fstab entry remains.
Resolution: SAM has been modified so that the entries in
the file /etc/fstab are not added to the
list of affected devices if the file system
is not mounted.
JAGae74460) The Backup and Recovery service of SAM calls the
binary /usr/sam/lbin/autoopt to read information
about automounted file systems. Since the
binary /usr/sam/lbin/autoopt dumps core, the
"Interactive backup" functionality displays an
error message.
Resolution: /usr/sam/lbin/autoopt has been modified to
resolve the core dump problem.
JAGae75264) SAM does not check if the logical volume
extended is a boot logical volume. On extending
the boot logical volume from "SAM -> Disks and
Filesystems -> Volume Groups" subarea, the boot
information is lost. This means that the system
will never boot at next reboot.
Resolution: SAM has been modified to extend the boot
logical volumes correctly.
JAGae76847) SAM is not able to perform the power off
operation on the OLAR-able slot for multi-port
cards.
