No (superseded patches were critical)
PHSS_34995: ABORT CORRUPTION
- In previous versions a corrected machine check may
result in a machine check abort or system INIT causing
the system to reboot.
- During extensive lab testing, HP discovered abnormal
behavior that may appear under certain software code
sequences on Itanium processors prior to the Intel
Dual Core Itanium II processor (Montecito). Firmware
for Montecito-based systems does not have this
exposure. The issue may occur with a small subset of
Correctable Machine Check (CMC) events when PAL
firmware is executed and eventually hands off to SAL
firmware. SAL firmware fails to preserve
pre-existing floating point registers in its handling
of the CMC event, potentially resulting in unexpected
operation due to a corrupted register state. This
behavior has not been reported outside the lab
environment.
PHSS_33091: PANIC
- In previous versions, a kernel panic may occur on
systems running Linux with a full memory PDT.

Symptoms:
PHSS_35296:
The following fixes appear in iLO MP firmware E.03.30
(Current Release):
------------------------------------------------------------
- Corrected an issue during system boot where a
POWER_REDUNDANCY_LOST event may incorrectly turn on the
flashing yellow attention LED in systems with only one
installed power supply.
- Updating the Directory Server field with the Host Name
parameter from HP Systems Insight Manager will no longer
cause an Invalid input failure.
Hewlett-Packard continually strives to provide customers
with the highest quality of products. To meet this goal,
several minor performance and reliability improvements have
been identified that Hewlett-Packard has included in this
firmware release.
PHSS_34995:
The following enhancements appear in System firmware 04.10
(Current Release):
------------------------------------------------------------
- Enabled support for the following Intel (R) Itanium
(R) 2 processors:
- AD122A Dual-core 1.4GHz processor with 12MB cache
- AD123A Dual-core 1.6GHz processor with 18MB cache
- Added support for a 4 DIMM configuration of 4GB
DIMMs. Previous system firmware release added support
for a total of 8, 4GB DIMMs increasing the maximum
system memory size to 32MB.
- Added support for Tape Boot on U160 and U320 SCSI
cards in combination with the HP-UX 11i v2 0606
Release.
- Added support for Fast Initialization within the EFI
'ioconfig' command. Fast-init is a new EFI device
connection policy that, when enabled will enumerate
only console and USB devices prior to reaching the
EFI Boot Manager.
- Added support for Directed LAN Boot within the EFI
'lanboot' command.
- Changed the Machine Check log overwrite policy to
preserve the initial Machine Check log even after
subsequent Machine Checks. The Machine Check log
will not be overwritten until after a clear or
reset.
- To avoid corrupting EFI console output, forward
progress events (alert levels 0 and 1) are no longer
displayed after launching EFI.
- Dynamic variable store has been implemented. This
will allow for an arbitrary number of disk drives
limited by size of available memory.
- Removed the 'cache' option from the EFI info
command.
- Removed the 8000 limit on the number of disk drives.
The following enhancements appear in iLO MP firmware
E.03.28:
------------------------------------------------------------
- Added the capability to disable SNMP.
- Added the capability to set the SNMP Community String.
The default Community String is set to "public".
- Added LDAP-lite functionality.
The following fixes appear in System firmware 04.10:
------------------------------------------------------------
- During extensive lab testing, HP discovered abnormal
behavior that may appear under certain software code
sequences on Itanium processors prior to the Intel
Dual Core Itanium II processor (Montecito). Firmware
for Montecito-based systems does not have this
exposure. The issue may occur with a small subset of
Correctable Machine Check (CMC) events when PAL
firmware is executed and eventually hands off to SAL
firmware. SAL firmware fails to preserve
pre-existing floating point registers in its handling
of the CMC event, potentially resulting in unexpected
operation due to a corrupted register state. This
behavior has not been reported outside the lab
environment.
- In previous versions a corrected machine check may
result in a machine check abort or system INIT
causing the system to reboot.
- The EFI shell commands: 'info all', 'info io', and
'lanaddress' along with the EFI Boot Manager Advanced
System Information menus 'Display ALL' and 'I/O
Information' are now supported in systems with a total
of 18 or more LAN ports.
- In previous versions a key press may not interrupt
Autoboot when the timeout is set to 0.
- In previous versions a PDT_XSUM_BAD event may be
logged and the PDT cleared when demoting PDT entries
below 192MB.
- Fixed an issue where an incorrect string may be
displayed in the bottom line of the EFI Boot Manager
when more than 13 boot entries exist and one is
highlighted.
- The EFI errdump command will now accept '-n'
(non-interactive mode) and '-b' (displays one screen
at a time) options.
- An Operating System initiated hotplug will now
correctly remove the card from the 'pcidump' output
and succeed at re-adding the card.
- Corrected machine check error logs now display
processor type.
- In previous versions HP-UX may fail to boot and panic
with a "SAL_CACHE_FLUSH returned non-zero status"
message following an HP-UX Ignite.
The following fixes appear in BMC firmware 04.01 (Current
Release):
------------------------------------------------------------
- An informational "SEL Time Set" event will now only be
logged to the SEL upon update of the Baseboard
Management Controllers internal clock if the time
change is greater than 30 seconds to prevent the System
Event Log from filling up with timestamps.
- Fixed an issue where a system with only one installed
power supply may incorrectly display a "Sensor: Voltage
- AC Pwr Supply 2" / "Data1: Device Removed/Device
Absent" level 3 event upon AC power on causing the
System LED to blink yellow.
- During a system reset immediately following a BMC
firmware update, the system will always power back on,
ignoring the Power Restore Policy Configuration.
- Fixed an issue where a "System event log almost full"
event may cause the previously reported event to be
incorrectly reported again.
- A device using the Serial A Console Port will no longer
be interrupted by the Baseboard Management Controller's
Command Line Interface when an 'ESC' plus '(' key
sequence is passed.
- Fixed an issue where the Baseboard Management Controller
may appear to hang and stop responding to certain MP
commands like: PC, PS, and RS.
The following fixes appear in iLO MP firmware E.03.28:
------------------------------------------------------------
- A "Request for console write access failed!" message
will no longer occur when ^Ecf is entered for console
write access.
- Fixed an issue that may cause a Web GUI connection
to be dropped with a "Your IP is invalid" error
message.
- Added the MP hostname to the DHCP request packet.
- The modem port will now remain configured for OS
Session after an Operating System reboot.
- MP Hostname changes will now always be retained when
saved through the Web GUI.
- Fixed an issue where a change to DHCP status, IP
address, Netmask, or Gateway via the Web GUI, telnet,
SSH or HPSIM may cause the connection to be dropped
prior to completion, requiring login via the serial
console to resolve.
- The ARP Ping Utility will no longer cause DHCP to be
disabled.
- A user with Administrative access will no longer be
able to delete the last remaining User Admin account.
- When a user signs out of the Web GUI connection without
using the "Sign Out" link, the user will remain in the
system for 5 minutes until the inactivity timeout
expires.
- An Operator user will no longer see "The user does not
have sufficient privileges to execute this command."
error when viewing the Status Summary page in the Web
GUI.
- The Directory settings page in the Web GUI will no
longer show garbage characters for the LDAP parameters
when more than 80 characters are configured.
Hewlett-Packard continually strives to provide customers
with the highest quality of products. To meet this goal,
several minor performance and reliability improvements
have been identified that Hewlett-Packard has included in
this firmware release.

- In previous versions, the EFI Shell 'info sys' command
may incorrectly display the System Bus Frequency as
199 MHz.
- In previous versions, a kernel panic may occur on systems
running Linux with a full memory PDT.
The following fixes appear in iLO MP firmware E.03.15:
------------------------------------------------------------
- The View Console Button in the Remote Console tab of
the iLO Web Console has been moved so that it can be
easily viewed by all resolutions.
- Reducing the Microsoft (R) Internet Explorer web browser
size will no longer cause the Main tab bar options to
disappear.
- In previous versions, a user granted Console only access
may incorrectly receive the following error when
attempting to view the Remote Serial Console through
the iLO Web Console: "The user does not have sufficient
privileges to execute this command".
- In previous versions the IPMI over LAN may not be
restarted if an iLO MP firmware update fails.
- After updating firmware to E.03.13 an MP reset may occur
while configuring the LAN via the LC command. This has
been fixed in E.03.15.
- Microsoft (R) Internet Explorer will now successfully
launch an iLO Web Console for MP hostnames containing
hyphens.
- In previous versions, after updating to E.03.13 the MP
Security Options may not always be set to Enabled. Now
when performing a firmware update they will be defaulted
to Enable if no Security Options exist, otherwise the
existing Security Options will be retained.
- Any URL request received at port 80 will return an
HTTP_NOT_FOUND error code unless the requested URL is
the home page.
- In previous versions, the 'SO -options -fwpci enable'
command may fail in CLI.
- In previous versions if the System LED is flashing yellow
and the BMC is reset via the MP 'RB' command the System
LED will be turned off.
- The 'lc -all default' command will no longer fail if DHCP
is enabled.
- Odd length packets will now be handled correctly with
DHCP enabled.
- A port scan of the MP will no longer cause an MP hang.
PHSS_32499:
New features and enhancements
This is the initial firmware release for hp Integrity
rx2620. This package contains System firmware revision
03.10, BMC firmware revision 03.47, and iLO MP firmware
revision E.03.13.
The following new features appear in iLO MP firmware
E.03.13:
------------------------------------------------------------
The new features for this release are broken into two
groups: unlicensed and licensed. The unlicensed features
will be available through a normal firmware upgrade.
The licensed features will require the normal firmware
upgrade as well as the purchase and installation of an
advanced features license, HP part number AB500A
New Unlicensed Features:
- The Management Processor name has changed from
Management Processor (MP) to Integrated Lights-Out
for HP Integrity and HP 9000 (iLO).
- TCP/IP network configuration via DHCP
The iLO MP TCP/IP network configuration may be
initialized by use of a DHCP server. In particular
the IP address, subnet mask, gateway address, DNS
domain name, and DNS server IP addresses may all be
set by configuring on a DHCP server.
Thereafter the iLO MP will obtain these parameters
automatically from the DHCP server.
- Web Console, also called Secure Web Access (SWA)
The Web console starts from the WEB GUI. Click Remote
Console tab and then click on the View Console button
in the lower right hand corner. The Web Console now
supports Hong Kong Big 5, HP-UX locale zh_HK.hkbig5.
- Web-based graphical user interface (GUI)
A web-based graphical user interface has been added
in addition to the web-based console. A standard web
browser may now be used to monitor and configure the
iLO MP. Entering <ctrl B> in the Web Console will
no longer access the iLO MP monitoring and configuring
interface. Use the Web-based GUI, telnet, and direct
connect to monitor and configure the iLO MP.
- IPMI over LAN
The Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI)
option provides direct access from the MP LAN port to
the server Baseboard Management Controller (BMC)
monitoring and control functions such as monitoring
temperature, voltage, fans, and power supplies. With
IPMI over LAN enabled, BMC functions are available to
other management software applications. MP supports
up to four simultaneous IPMI over LAN connections.
- Configurations have been added in support of customers
desiring enhanced system protection. Specifically the
following iLO MP features may be disabled:
- iLO MP firmware updates from the iLO MP host
system
- iLO MP resets received via IPMI (may be sent
across LAN to IPMI)
- iLO MP password resets received via IPMI (may be
sent across LAN to IPMI)
New Licensed Advanced Features:
- Secure Shell (SSH) access to the iLO MP
SSH clients may be used for access to iLO MP providing
secure encrypted data across the network. Users may
authenticate in SSH using their normal configured
username and password.
- Group actions via hp Systems Insight Manager (HPSIM)
Many of the iLO MP system management functions are
now available from the HPSIM. Operations may be
performed on multiple iLO MPs with a single HPSIM
operation.
- Directory-based authentication and authorization (LDAP)
Allows iLO MP user accounts to be defined in a
centralized database on a LDAP server. iLO MP users
are authenticated when logging into an iLO MP and
authorization is given each time an iLO MP command
is executed.
For additional information on the Integrated Lights-Out
MP Advanced Functionality, reference the "hp Integrity &
hp 9000 Integrated Lights-Out Management Processor
Operations Guide" online posted under the appropriate
server at http://docs.hp.com.
Fixed Issues:
The following fixes appear in iLO MP firmware
E.03.13:
-----------------------------------------------------------
- The MP command 'pc -g' is not supported on hp 9000
systems and has been removed from the 'pc' options menu
for hp 9000 systems.
- The Web console Asian language input is now functional.
- In previous versions, the MP reports incorrect system
temperature warnings on rx4640 systems. The internal
ambient temperature is reported instead of the fan
control temperature.
- Reduced the delay after an Escape character is typed at
the EFI prompt from 5 seconds to 2 seconds to meet
Out-of-Band Management Console Output and Terminal
Emulation standards.
- In previous versions (E.02.22 or later) sending a
'CTRL-BREAK' from the local or remote MP serial ports
may not be properly received by the OS console.
- In previous versions, the Web console may hang while
processing long data streams.
- The Fault LED will only be set for alert level 7 events.

before installing this patch.
------------------------------------------------------------
1. Back up your system before installing a patch.
2. Login as root.
3. Copy the patch to the /tmp directory.
4. Move to the /tmp directory and unshar the patch:
cd /tmp
sh PHSS_35296
5. Run swinstall to install the patch:
swinstall -x autoreboot=true -x patch_match_target=true \
-s /tmp/PHSS_35296.depot
By default swinstall will archive the original software in
/var/adm/sw/save/PHSS_35296. If you do not wish to retain a
copy of the original software, include the patch_save_files
option in the swinstall command above:
-x patch_save_files=false
WARNING: If patch_save_files is false when a patch is installed,
the patch cannot be deinstalled. Please be careful
when using this feature.

Special Installation Instructions:
1. This patch will only install and update the firmware on
rx2620 systems.
If you wish to install the patch on a different system even
though it does not apply, you can force the installation of
the patch by using the touch(1) command to create the file
'/tmp/force_patch_install' before installing the patch.
This may be useful when creating a 'golden' archive image
for Ignite-UX that may be used on several different
hardware platforms.
If the patch is installed on a system other than those
listed above, it will not modify the system firmware so no
harm will occur.
2. If this patch is uninstalled it will not uninstall/
downgrade the firmware installed by the patch and the
firmware installed by the patch will remain loaded after
the patch is removed.
3. The firmware update is accomplished by temporarily
altering the boot sequence. To identify the disk, patch
assumes that the primary boot disk is the first disk listed
in the /stand/bootconf file.
To ensure the firmware update is successful, please use the
setboot(1M) and ioscan(1M) commands to verify that the
primary boot disk is set and is the first disk listed in the
/stand/bootconf file. If it is not, modify the bootconf
file appropriately. Please reference the man page for
bootconf(4) for information on this file.
4. The firmware update must be performed outside of an OS
install, update-UX, or Dynamic Root Disk session. If a
firmware update is performed, it will be excluded from
installation to ensure that OS install, update-UX, or DRD
is fully functional.
5. The firmware update will be excluded from installation
if the firmware versions in the patch is the same or older
than the one the system is running on. This will ensure
that no un-necessary system reboot occurs.
6. Any future firmware versions on the system can be
downgraded with firmware in this patch by using the
command "touch /tmp/force_patch_install" before
installing the patch. If there are any newer firmware
patches installed on the system that supersede this
firmware patch, the newer firmware patches must be removed
with the SD command swremove in order to install this
downgrade firmware patch.
7. The firmware update will be excluded from installation
if the autoboot flag is not set. This is to ensure that the
end-to-end firmware update process goes smoothly without
user intervention once the patch installation is started.
Please use to setboot(1M) command to set the autoboot flag
on prior to installing the patch.
8. The firmware update will be excluded from installation
if the system has an Administrator password set.
If this password is set, it must be cleared by connecting
to the MP and running the BP command from the Command Menu
prior to installing the patch.
9. Do not attempt to update firmware on the MP via the
network while installing this patch.
10. Prior to updating the iLO MP firmware a MP reset needs
to occur via the "XD-R" command in order to free up enough
contiguous memory.
11. The following OS update is required prior to
installation of AD122A 1.4GHz/12MB or AD123A 1.6GHz/18MB
dual-core processor modules:
- HP-UX 11.23 HWE0606
12. The firmware update will default the system console to
9600 baud upon first boot, ignoring any previous settings.
Any connected terminals or serial console applications
should be set to 9600 BAUD prior to updating firmware.
13. The MP firmware update will fail if the "Allow MP
Firmware upgrade via PCI" option is Disabled in the MP
Security Options menu. To update the firmware using this
package, enable this option in the MP Security Options
menu.
